The imperfect and spontaneous essence of the ‘offline’ era back in the 90s and 2000s is at the heart of our ethos here at The Wedding Recorder.

Founded by the award-winning filmmaker, Zoe Lewin, TWR is a nod to filmmakers Nancy Meyers and Richard Curtis, and the last generation who remember what a home video was.

But we’re also fixing a more practical problem.

Traditional wedding videographers are expensive, and usually the first thing couples cut when budgeting for their wedding.

The Wedding Recorder flips the model. Instead of a stranger with a camera, your wedding gets captured by the people who know you best, letting you and your guests live in the moment, just like the movies.

Couples can hire our user-friendly camcorders for guests to pass around, which, by their very design and ergonomics, embody that 90s and 2000s aesthetic of the home video.

What sets TWR apart is that we’re built on real filmmaking principles.

Our Film Producer founder Zoe has filmed, documented and developed many remarkable stories on camera in the last decade, and began her career as one of very few women working in the camera department.

  • We’ll always ship our TWR parcels conservatively, meaning in most situations it will arrive at least 3 days prior to your wedding day to put you at ease.

  • We get it, weddings can be wonderfully chaotic. We’ll carefully inspect equipment upon return and fairly assess any damage vs wear and tear. We’ll always get in touch to discuss any damage with you first. Please note:

    • Accidental damage is assessed on return and charged at repair cost

    • Lost or stolen equipment whilst it’s in your possession, i.e. not in transit to or from our business depo, is charged at full replacement value

    • Water damage is charged at full replacement value

    • We are unable to accept liability for lost or corrupted footage caused by handler negligence

  • Our 4K camcorders produce high-quality footage and operate in essentially full auto mode, including focus and exposure.

    The ergonomics of modern camcorders, or handy cams, are such that they mimic a retro feel from the 90s and 2000s. Shakes, slow zooms, long takes, are precisely what bring the nostalgia and charm.

  • We kindly ask for 30 days’ notice for any of our TWR Classic, Signature or Luxury packages for a full refund, but we’ll always work with you on trying to reschedule if your dates change, for no extra fee, depending on availability. For our TWR London package, we ask for 14 days’ notice.

  • Yes! Film producing is what we do best, so get in touch and we can create something bespoke to you that fits entirely around your needs and wants!

  • We ask you not to remove the memory card or try to use your own if it runs out. The safest place is always inside the camera. If you run out of space, that just means we have plenty of options to choose from in the edit!

    The 128GB card in our TWR Classic Package holds approximately 2-2.5 hours of 4K footage and our 256GB cards in TWR Signature, Luxury and London packages can record up to 5 hours of 4K footage. Our shot lists will help you prioritise the moments that matter most.

  • Your bespoke highlights edit will be delivered within 3-4 weeks of us receiving your footage. For the TWR Signature, Luxury and London packages, we’ll get you a 60” reel within 1 week!

  • Yes! We know this is very specific to each individual, so we want to make sure the music reflects you as a couple. We’ll ask you to share with us some references of styles you like and we’ll match it with music we’re able to licence. We can also send a version of the films without music that you can post online using in-app commercial music on Instagram and TikTok for example.

  • At the moment, we are just offering 7-day hires. If you are going abroad and need longer, you’ll need to book the same package twice, back-to-back. But always get in touch with us first using the contact form as we will be able to offer plenty of advice!

  • Yes! You can take the camera and all the accessories away with you but you’ll have to post it back to us from the UK, as our shipping labels won’t work from overseas.
